Social media has become a medium that has exploded into mainstream popularity over the last 10 years. It would be hard to find an industry that hasn’t at least begun a transition into using social media for promoting their videos, products and advertisements. What used to be looked at as simply a platform of personal expression, social media has transitioned into an invaluable marketing tool that can benefit your business in many ways.

Build Your Target Audience

One of the great things that social media and social promotion gives you first is the analytical tools. These tools can help you follow marketing patterns and social trends as well as help you figure out who your target audience is going to be or should be.

You can find everything from age demographics, the country of origin, age ranges and time most visited during the day with these tools. Social media gives you the ability to follow and keep track of target audiences. You can see behavior patterns such as likes, dislikes and certain interests. These patterns can help you create and tailor content that will bring repeated visits and interactions with your pages, along with new followers from the same niche groups that your target audience relates to.

Once you begin to regularly use social promotion, you can figure out when the best time to post is, what type of posts do best, (video, photo, etc.) and which social media platform is working best for you.

A New Level of Interaction

Social media promotion brings you an opportunity to immediately interact with your audience in a way that previously was unavailable. Social media has created a two-way channel of interaction between client and business. This makes it so you can get feedback on products and promotional materials faster.

Social promotion also gives you the ability create a relationship with your clients that brings them back. When someone develops a parasocial relationship, whether that be through social media or some other medium, they feel as if they have a personal relationship with them. Social media also has given us the ability to interact with a client or target audience 24/7.

An Opportunity to Spread Content to Untapped Markets

One of the greatest things about social promotion is the way your content can reach audiences that may not have had access to your content before. Social promotion, especially on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook, can give you the tools to reach clients who have never seen your product or content before.

Platforms like the YouTube partner program, Instagram and Facebook Ads, and push notifications make it so your content can be promoted first, and on the front of their pages. Print and television mediums were region locked in a way, but with social media promotion, your content can reach users on the other side of the world, at any point in the day.

The Ability to Plan Ahead

With the social promotion tools we have access to now, social promotion can be an instant push or can be built up over time. Tools like HooteSuite and SproutSocial make it so you can plan out your content on a calendar, utilize those optimal times and then look back at the data all in one central place. These tools help you build better campaigns in the future, and help you create content that works better. They also make it so you can have access to social accounts from all your different platforms in one central point.

Wrap Up

If you are not using social promotion to help push your content out, you are almost at a disadvantage when lining up against your competition. Social media has created countless new ways for you to push out content and products at an efficiency rate that is faster than any other form of promotion can offer.

The tools given to you help you find your target audiences, enabling you to interact with these audiences and form relationships that bring back clients and former customers. If you have not begun to use these tools in some way, my advice is to do it sooner rather than later.
