Jr. Web Designer and Marketer

Babcox Media Inc. (www.babcox.com), an Akron, Ohio-based B2B print, digital and video media company with concentration in the automotive aftermarket, powersports, performance, collision, commercial fleet, engine building and tire industries, is seeking an entry-level Web Designer and Marketer.

The Junior Web Designer and Marketer will provide design, maintenance and development support for digital media projects. This includes:

  • Assisting with the design, development, and implementation of new WordPress site launches
  • Maintenance of existing WordPress website properties
  • Development of custom digital initiatives related to the websites, eNewsletters, digital magazines, and social media focused on audience tracking and promotions
  • Providing periodic support of email initiatives as needed

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain existing Babcox Media websites;
  • Manage, maintain and update all standard plugins on Babcox WordPress websites;
  • Design and develop website mockups and wireframes for editorial teams;
  • Provide feedback and design input for new and existing web properties;
  • Ensure that all site code and details are kept up to date and relevant;
  • Develop and optimize forms and landing pages for client programs;
  • Interact with Babcox Media’s Customer Data Platform (CDP) to gain insights about users.
  • By using various web-based tools, encourage website visitors to take actions such as signing up for a free eNewsletter, reading an extra article on the site, engaging with a special promotion, etc.

Other responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather relevant information and ideas;
  • Participate in training initiatives to assist editorial teams in learning WordPress, email best practices, and social media initiatives;
  • Regular & consistent attendance – present in the workplace. Face to face interaction and coordination of work with other employees. Access to paper documents or other tools only located inside the workplace;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in digital sciences and/or information technology or 2 years of related work experience
  • Working knowledge of WordPress development and maintenance, HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Basic Photoshop skills.
  • Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
  • Understanding of how to read Google Analytics
  • Knowledge and understanding of web trends and digital marketing including web analytics and digital/social measurement, A/B Testing, and audience tracking.
  • Website troubleshooting/testing
  • Project management and organization skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships

  • Possesses good working knowledge of SEO principles
  • Ability to grasp complex concepts and systems quickly

The Associate Editor researches, writes and edits relevant information for his/her respective brand(s). This position is responsible for the production, quality and distribution of multimedia content, which could include print magazines, websites, e-newsletters, social media, videos, PushCrew notifications and podcasts. This position shares responsibility in the job of editing, proofreading and posting content, as well as curating, gathering and/or outsourcing content. This position may also provide general support to other editorial staff, sales personnel and management. This is a full-time exempt position.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or similar.
  • Experience with WordPress;
  • Working knowledge in content optimization based on digital analytics across online and social media channels;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AP style.
  • Positive interpersonal skills and professionalism;
  • Strong interviewing skills required;
  • Ability to contribute as a team player as well as work independently;
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written);

  • Contact potential clients through cold calls and emails;
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market;
  • Promote the company’s products and services;
  • Identify client needs and suggest appropriate product/services;
  • Customize product solutions to increase customer satisfaction;
  • Set up meetings or calls between prospective clients and Regional Sales Managers.

Requirements:

  • Prior selling experience preferred but not required;
  • Recently completed or pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or similar and/or related experience and education;
